Ceramic Fiber Filter FAQ

Characteristics of the Ceramic Fiber Filter

Cleaning method:

Its main substrates are alumina and silica.

Operating temperature:

Its continuous operating temperature is up to 600℃, with a maximum of 1000℃, when only dedusting is considered. For catalytic ceramic fiber filter, the recommended operating temperature is 170–300℃ (optimum 220–260℃; the low-temperature catalyst reaches 90% DeNOx at 200℃ and 98% at 280℃).

Corrosion resistance:

Resistant to acid and alkali corrosion( except for super acid and super alkali such as HF, H₃PO4, Na₂O, K₂O when no alkali agent is added)

Non-combustible:

It can contact with the fire directly and it is non-combustible.

Physical strength:

Unlike the traditional bag filter, the ceramic fiber filter can maintain high physical strength at room temperature or high temperature without keel supporting.

Physical structure:

It is made of ceramic fiber to be porous structure, and its wall thickness is 20 mm (standard φ150 × φ110 × 3,000 mm element).

Filtration velocity:

Generally set from 2cm/s to 5cm/s, which is far quicker than the filtration velocity of the bag filter. And it can be adjusted according to the actual working conditions.

Filter resistance:

The clean filter resistance is about 300 Pa at 1 m/min face velocity (no dust).

System resistance:

The resistance of the whole dedusting system is generally 900–1,500 Pa.

Filtration accuracy:

It can filter dust larger than 1 micron. For dust smaller than 1 micron, the dedusting effect is also very good if special reagents are added.

Dedusting efficiency:

>99.9%.

Service life:

The ceramic fiber filter normally lasts more than 5 years, and is covered by a 5-year written warranty.

Cleaning Design

Cleaning method:

Clean with pulsed compressed gas backflushing

Backflush pressure:

Generally, the pressure used is between 0.4mpa and 0.7mpa, which will be determined according to the parameters of the dusty gas and the specifications of the filter.

Backflush time:

The backflush process lasts only 0.15 seconds.

Backflush cycle:

The backflush cycle can be set up based on the pressure difference. When the pressure sensor reaches the set parameters, the backflush process start.

Backflush Air Volume:

Generally, the amount of compressed gas needed for each filter is the amount of the filter’s volume.

Backflush design:

Each backflush tube can generally be used to blow 18 to 20 small diameter filters , or 8 to 10 large diameter filters. The system structure could be designed according to this.

No expansion of bags:

Unlike the traditional bag filter, the ceramic fiber filter itself is a rigid structure. The backflush cleaning process will not expand nor deform the filter.

No raised dust:

During the backflush process, the dust cake fall off from the ceramic fiber filter without secondary raised dust caused, while bag filter will cause secondary raised dust.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum operating temperature of your ceramic fiber filters?

The continuous operating temperature is up to 600°C, with a maximum of 1000°C, when only dedusting is considered. For catalytic ceramic fiber filters, the recommended operating temperature is 170–300°C (optimum 220–260°C; the low-temperature catalyst reaches 90% DeNOx at 200°C and 98% at 280°C).

What is the dust removal efficiency?

Dust removal efficiency is >99.9%. The filter captures dust larger than 1 micron, and dust smaller than 1 micron can also be removed very well when special reagents are added.

What is the service life of a ceramic fiber filter?

Ceramic fiber filters normally last more than 5 years, and each element is covered by a 5-year written warranty.

Which industries are your filters suitable for?

They are suitable for glass furnaces, cement kilns, coking plants, thermal power plants, waste incinerators, metallurgical smelting furnaces and biomass boilers.

What are the filtration velocity and system resistance?

Filtration velocity is generally set from 2 cm/s to 5 cm/s, much faster than bag filters. Filter resistance is 300 Pa at 1 m/min face velocity (clean, no dust), and the whole dedusting system resistance is generally 900–1,500 Pa.

How are the ceramic fiber filters cleaned?

They are cleaned with pulsed compressed gas backflushing at a pressure of 0.4 MPa to 0.7 MPa. Each backflush lasts about 0.15 seconds and is triggered by pressure difference.

Do the filters resist acid and alkali corrosion?

Yes, they are resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, except for super acid and super alkali such as HF, H3PO4, Na2O and K2O when no alkali agent is added.

What is the difference between non-catalyst and catalytic ceramic fiber filters?

Non-catalyst filters are used for dedusting only. Catalytic filters also remove SOx, NOx, HCl and dioxins with desulfurization and denitrification efficiency up to 95%, and are recommended at 170–300°C (optimum 220–260°C).
